I received a most unexpected surprise on my doorstep today: a mystery benefactor sent along
my GM badges in
pin form via Cafe Press:

| With apologies to Scott Driver for stealing his Hipstamatic |
The pins are really top notch quality. I think I'll stick them to my GM screen, or maybe decorate the lapel of my leather jacket
like so. (Seriously.) I'm really flattered that someone would see fit to send along a gift inspired by this humble little blog. Mystery Person, you made my week!
Wow! Man, that is so cool. Big ups to your secret pal.

Tomorrow night we play 510. The tournament is shaping up to be quite an interesting episode. Wish me luck in pulling of the dramatic scenes of the year!
ReplyDeleteThat is way better than having a Secret Valentine.
ReplyDeleteEric: I hope it went well! 510 is such a tough year to pull off since it involves one of the most familiar images in Western mythology; making it fresh and interesting for your players can be a challenge.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the well wishes. It turned out beautifully.
ReplyDeleteWe played a normal, 5 hour session and only got through New Year's Eve to Jan 2. That is a rarity in Pendragon. The tournament was 95% of the play and a really BIG DEAL. One of the players thought he had a shot at becoming king.
A newly knighted son of the sole surviving original knight (Lord Marshal Rhodri of Bushey) nearly ran King Leodegrance through with a splintered lance.
The climax was single battle between Duke Ulfius and the Lord Marshal, who are bitter enemies, where the only witnesses were two other player knights and Duke Ulfius' demon-possessed henchman. The Duke was being worn down when a critical hit was landed against him (which meant real damage from the rebated sword.) Just as the player was shaking the dice for damage against the Duke, the call that Excalibur had been drawn was raised. The blow did not kill Duke Ulfius; but, he conceded defeat.
The whole group was giddy the rest of the night after that scene.
We finished the night choosing the "Ten Best" and awarding glory. We'll start up at Candlemas next session. Unfortunately, the next session won't be for more than a month as I'm traveling on business (Tokyo, New Dehli, Bangalore and Los Angeles. Maybe Bucharest. It sounds exotic; but, it gets old really fast when you have children waiting for you at home.)
Those who know the year-by-year story of The Great Pendragon Campaign may appreciate this.
ReplyDeleteIts a year-by-year songlist of inspiration for our table's run through of this campaign until Arthur draws Excalibur.
Wow, that is supercool. Life can be full of surprises, even positive ones!
